There are many scholarships available to study in Japan, including the government sponsored MEXT program. Check with your school or university, or follow these links for other scholarship programs. These links are provided for your convenience.

Japan Center for Michigan Universities
JCMU offers study abroad programs in Shiga, Japan, to students across the U.S. It was founded in 1988 on the 20th anniversary of the sister-state relationship between Shiga and Michigan. Programs vary from 2 to 34 weeks in length and include language, education, public health, culture, and more. Prior language skills are not required.

Japanistry
Japanistry hosts a database of many Japanese Language schools in Japan that allows users to search Japanese language schools sorting by area, the types of courses offered, the accommodations available, and country of origin of the student population. In addition to the database, the site has many other features including simple Japanese lessons, an event calendar, and a visitor’s guide for Tokyo.

Japan Student Services Organization
JASSO is engaged in a wide variety of services, including provision of information and consultation on study in Japan, promotion of short-term student exchanges, follow-up services for former international students in Japan, and assistance in other international educational exchanges. This site has an extensive directory of scholarship programs.

Japan Study Support
The Foreign Students' Advisory Center of The Asian Students Cultural Association, a non-profit organization established in 1957, provides scholarship and other information for international students wishing to study in Japan." Scholarship database.

Youth for Understanding
"Youth For Understanding (YFU) is one of the world's oldest, largest, and most respected international exchange organizations. Today, YFU USA administers the Youth For Understanding programs in the United States." YFU offers high school students the opportunity to study abroad. Their site lists several scholarship programs to assist with the program fees.
