The 17th Japan International Manga Award Submission Instructions (Deadline: June 30, 2023)

Applications are now being accepted for the 17th Japan International Manga Award. Please make sure to thoroughly read the guidelines on the official Manga Award website.
For applicants who live in the US, you must submit your application to your regional Japanese Embassy or Consulate. The Consulate General of Japan in Detroit is only accepting applications from people who reside in either Michigan or Ohio. If you reside in another state, please check the Japanese Consulates or Embassy in the US list to find the corresponding Consulate or Embassy in your region.
Residents of Michigan and Ohio
Deadline:
Please submit your application by 5:00pm, Friday, June 30, 2023!
Although the application period is open from April 14th - July 7th, to allow time to review applications and send them to Japan, the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit asks that all applications be received no later than June 30th.
Required Documents:
Please submit the following two items
●Application Form (Submit online via Forms)
●Original Manga - please choose ONE of the following ways to submit your work.
a) TWO printed copies
b) ONE copy in PDF format
c) ONE printed copy & ONE copy in PDF format

Sending Applications:
Please choose one of the three methods above to submit your application. Please follow the directions carefully, and be sure to double check the number of copies required.
Option a) Mail TWO printed copies of your work
Option b) Upload ONE copy in PDF format to the folder provided
Option c) Mail ONE printed copy of your work and upload your work to the folder provided
If you choose option b):
Upload your work to the folder provided and your application will be complete.
When you upload your work, please name your electronic file as follows: “●●●.pdf” (with ●●● being the full name of the manga artist) For example: PatSmith.pdf
If you choose option a) or c):
Print and mail BOTH (1) a printed copy of the confirmation e-mail and (2) your original manga, and your application will be complete.

- You will then receive a link (to access the folder into which to upload your work) from the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit by email within a few days after your application has been received.
