●Our office will be relocating to a new location during the period from Friday, March 13 to Sunday, March 22.
●We plan to resume normal operations at the new office on Monday, March 23. (If there are any changes, we will notify you immediately, so please continue to check our website as needed.)
●During the relocation period, consular services will be limited (please refer to the main text for details).
●On Thursday, March 19, our main office phone line will be unavailable. In case of emergency, please contact the following numbers:

3. Main Telephone Line Unavailability
(1) On Thursday, March 19, the main telephone line will be out of service due to telephone exchange system switching.
(2) For urgent matters or consular inquiries, please use the following phone number:

4. Services during the Relocation Period
Due to the relocation, consular services at the current office will be limited as follows:
(1) Consular Counter
● Until Thursday, March 12
• Normal services available at the current office.
● Friday, March 13 | Monday, March 16 | Tuesday, March 17
• Limited services only due to system relocation.
• Only the following will be provided:
– Emergency cases
– Notifications related to family register and nationality
– Overseas election-related procedures
• Not available:
– Applications and issuance of various certificates
– Passport applications and issuance
– Visa applications and issuance
• Online applications for certificates, passports, and e-visas are accepted, but reviews at the consulate will not begin until after Monday, March 23, so processing will take longer than usual.
• For urgent emergency passports or travel documents for return to Japan, please consult the consulate in advance.
● Saturday, March 14 | Sunday, March 15 | Wednesday, March 18 – Sunday, March 22
• Closed (no services available).
● From Monday, March 23
• Normal services resume at the new office as scheduled.
5. Notes on Postal Services
● Family Register, Nationality Notifications, My Number Card Applications, Residence Certificates, etc.

For remote applicants, please ensure visa application documents sent by mail/FedEx arrive at the current office (400 Renaissance Center, Suite 1600, Detroit, MI 48243) by Monday, March 2. After this date, postal/FedEx submissions will be temporarily suspended. For emergencies, please contact us by phone. From Monday, March 23, documents can be sent to the new office address above.

● Passports
The “postal provisional application system” for passport applications from remote applicants has been abolished. Please use the online application system or apply in person at the counter or consular outreach service venues. For questions, please contact the Passport Section.
