Greetings from Consul General Kishimori
2024/12/10

I am Hajime “Jimmy” Kishimori, and I have recently assumed the position of Consul General of Japan in Detroit.
The states of Michigan and Ohio are home to people from diverse backgrounds, and cultural diversity thrives in these areas. Detroit, where the Consulate General of Japan is located, is known as a city in which multiple cultures intersect and is also a center of industry in the United States.
My mission is to deepen the ties between Japan and the United States in this region, and through my daily activities, I aim to build mutually beneficial relationships for both sides.
The presence of Japanese companies in Michigan and Ohio is significant, and they have long contributed to both industrial development and job creation. The Consulate General of Japan will continue to support these Japanese companies, contributing to both the economies of Michigan and Ohio, and will work to strengthen economic ties between Japan and these states.
Furthermore, it is essential to foster exchanges among people in order to deepen our bonds. Through the implementation of exchange programs and by offering support for sister city relationships, I hope to build heartfelt friendships between the people of Japan and the United States. In order to strengthen ties between our two countries, we will promote Japan through a variety of avenues, including Japanese culture and arts, thereby enhancing mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.
For Japanese nationals residing here, our top priority is to ensure a safe and secure living environment, and I am committed to providing services tailored to their needs. We will also continue to improve consular services and hope to earn the trust of the people in our region. Please feel free to share any feedback or suggestions.
I value close collaboration with the local community and aim to be a helpful presence for all of you. As the Consulate General of Japan, we will work to further strengthen the bonds between Japan and the United States and advance grassroots exchanges. I kindly ask for your continued support and cooperation.
