Consulate General of Japan in Detroit Remits Donation Funds to the Japanese Red Cross Society

Many generous donations by the citizens and orgainzations in Michigan and Ohio have been received by the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit on behalf of the men, women and children who have fallen victim to the Great East Japan Earthquake and ensuing tsunami disasters. We wish to express our most sincere gratitude to all who have so kindly contributed.

We would like to report that as of December 31, 2011 the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit has received a total of $266,168.98 in donations for relief of the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. These funds have been forwarded to the Japanese Red Cross Society in full, and will go direclty to grant disbursement committees in the devasted areas.
