Japan Customs Procedures
In particular, if you are moving to Japan and will be shipping your possessions to Japan separately, you MUST submit two copies of the “Declaration of Accompanied Personal Effects and Unaccompanied Articles” to Customs. After entry, you cannot declare unaccompanied baggage and the declaration form cannot be reissued if lost. For more information, see Japanese Customs information sheet here.
